Launceston Airport is a one and a half hour drive from Cradle Mountain, and served by Virgin Blue, Jetstar and Qantas. Launceston is the main airport of entry for Wildside competitors flying to the event because of access to discount fares, flexibility of flight times, and availability of space for bike transport. (the planes flying into Launceston are bigger). A word of warning in respect of bike transport though – check your excess baggage provisions before booking, as some airlines charge for your bike and others don’t.

Devonport Airport is located just over one hours drive from Cradle Mountain and may offer an option for some participants. It is served by Regional Express and Southern Australian Airlines. The planes are Dash 8’s with limited capacity to carry bikes.
